Joby Floyd Thomas Sr.
COOPER — Joby Floyd Thomas Sr., 87, of Ben Franklin passed away Friday, Feb. 26, at Birchwood Manor.
Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 1, in the Delta Funeral Home Chapel. Interment is to be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Ben Franklin.
The family is to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born in Lamar County on Jan. 15, 1923, the son of John Dodson Thomas and Minnie Mae Brown Thomas. He was a farmer and rancher. He married Laverne Moody on July 4, 1948, and she preceded him in death on March 9, 1992. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Elbert, Herbert, J.D. Robert, Willie, Fay, Lori, Mary Lorane and Nina.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joby and Dana Thomas of Cooper; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Rick Smith of Rockwall, Kathy and Roger Houchins of Cooper and Judy and Lee Easthom of Mesquite; grandchildren, Angie Smith, Rikki and Eli Cooper, Wendell and Jennifer Houchins, Allen and Amy Houchins, Clay Easthom, JJ and Chris McDolland, and Julie and Rias Chohan; and great-grandchildren, Jesica and Michael Jones, Jordan and Dylan Cooper, MckInzie, Reagan and Jackson McDonald, Sebastian and Elias Chohan, Landen, Ryan, Gavin and Rylee Houchins.
