|Seek Him Now and Always
With the Christmas season upon us, it seems we shift into our "loving" personalities. You know, itís just a part of the season. Feed the hungry, clothe the poor, show your love to all your friends and family. Well-I would like to take just a moment to encourage you. As Christians it is our honor, total honor, to share the love of Jesus, always. This is not just a mood we shift into. Itís not something we should have to think about doing. If you truly have the love of Jesus within you, itís not an action or something you do, itís who you are. Itís who Jesus was after all, and arenít we made in His image? Arenít we to be reflections of Him? Always?
James taught that "Faith, if not accompanied by action, is dead." James 2:17 He teaches in Chapter 2 that it isnít enough to simply say "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled" vs. 16, but that we must DO something about it. He sums it up by saying "You see then that man is justified by works, and not faith only," vs. 24 and " For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." vs. 26
In other words, if you truly love and know Jesus, then you are like Him. It is not an obligation but a desire to reach out to the lost, the poor, your loved ones. In seeking Him and coming to know His character, we come to possess His heart, and His heart is to serve. To look at people through His eyes, and react the way He would react, THAT is showing His love. If you know Him, love Him, and possess His heart as you should, then all this is simply natural. Itís who you are. Be encouraged this season. Seek Him. Itís not about gifts, but if you do give, do it as Jesus would, and for the same reason-- love.† Isnít that after all, what He has given us?
